SOAR Academy is a tuition-based therapeutic home-study assistance special education program for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental delay. SOAR Academy uses the Unique Learning System curriculum, a Louisiana common core-aligned special education program, delivered utilizing principles of Applied Behavior Analysis with supports from other disciplines. As such, students enrolled in the SOAR Academy receive therapy services from associates with Speech Language Specialists (e.g. facilitated language, reading), DeLoach Therapy Services Pediatric Occupational Therapy (e.g. handwriting), and Aspire Behavioral Health Center (e.g. instructional/behavioral supports and educational assessment).

SOAR Academy offers:

instruction from a teacher who holds a Master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in special education as well as experience in implementing Applied Behavior Analysis strategies,

teaching methods based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis whereby skills are broken down into smaller, easy-to-learn steps,

behavioral supports from licensed behavior analysts,

supplemental reading intervention from a speech therapist,

supplemental fine motor skill development and handwriting supports from a pediatric occupational therapist,

low student : teacher ratio,

initial assessment for academic planning and follow-up assessment to monitor progress conducted by a licensed psychologist,

instruction utilizing the Unique Learning System which is a Louisiana common core-aligned program for students who require a special education program,

collection and maintenance of academic performance and progress, and a portfolio which the parent may utilize for end-of-year reporting,

enthusiastic and compassionate staff, fun facility, 1500 sq ft indoor play area

SOAR Academy tuition and fees do not cover co-pays, deductibles, etc.
SOAR Academy Instructor
Ms. Jacqueline January, M. Ed. is the Instructor in the SOAR Academy at Aspire Behavioral Health Center. Ms. Jacqueline holds a bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology, and earned her Masters of Education with a concentration in Special Education. Her student teaching was completed at Ossun Elementary in Lafayette, LA. Ms. Jacqueline has been working with Dr. McCoy since 2015 as a Registered Behavior Technician prior to the inception of SOAR Academy. She uses her experience as a Registered Behavior Technician and her Special Education background to facilitate learning in a group setting.
